health and safety

Camper and staff safety has always been a top priority at Camp Lone Star. Ensuring that campers feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe is crucial to allowing campers the opportunity to experience God and the transformation that He brings! Camp has maintained licensing with the Texas Department of State Health Services and will continue to work to meet the expectations set forth by the state. In addition to providing our Emergency Action Plans and updating on-site emergency notifications, here are some of the things we have always done to keep campers safe:  

— Staff Certifications and Trainings —
All year round and seasonal staff are certified by the Red in CPR/AED/First Aid, receive annual background checks, and go through Child Abuse Prevention Training from Protect My Ministry. 
Summer staff also participate in a weeklong training prior to camper arrival.

— Camper Supervision —
Our campers are constantly supervised by our trained counselors and leadership team. No matter what events are planned for the day, our staff facilitate all activities. Campers are never away from an adult.  During the day, groups participate in activities at a 1:10 staff to camper ratio. 

— Emergency Events —
Our full team, year-round and seasonal staff, is trained each summer on all Emergency Action Plans. Our Emergency Preparedness Team constantly monitors weather and incoming storm fronts to ensure camper and staff safety at all times. Campers are briefed on what to do in an emergency during their first six hours at camp.

What I love most about Camp Lone Star—Tomball is that this camp feels like old-fashioned summer fun. Adventure Woods was such an incredible experience for my son that we ended up enrolling him for 3 weeks in a row because he genuinely did not want it to end. As a parent, that says everything. Every day he came home excited, confident, tired in the best way, and full of stories about hiking, swimming, fishing, rock climbing, ax throwing, and the friendships he was building along the way. It kept him active, engaged, challenged, and away from screens in the best possible way.

The staff genuinely care about these kids. You can feel the encouragement, structure, positivity, and intentionality behind everything they do. Beyond just having fun, I watched my son grow in confidence, independence, willingness to try new things, and connection with others. In a world where so much competes for our children’s attention, I’m grateful for places that still prioritize community, character, adventure, and faith-centered encouragement. There's something really special about Adventure Woods. The second we drove in, you could feel it. If you're looking for an amazing, Christ-centered, uplifting, tech-free, traditional style summer camp that will help your kids challenge themselves, make friends, try new things, and come home utterly exhausted - this is the place! All of the staff are wonderful, highly trained, and you can tell they love being there. The property itself is stunning, a true piece of heaven right in the city. I was so impressed, it feels really inspired, and we will be back next year for sure! Don't hesitate to send your kiddos.

This was my daughter's first time at Camp Lone Star. She is going into 1st grade. She has had the BEST time. All of the staff are so kind and welcoming. She is already asking if she can go back next year. There is nothing better as a mom than dropping off your kid with zero worries. The facilities are so nice and clean. You can’t help but smile when you step onto the camp campus, because it is so welcoming and lovely. Camp Lone Star was a wonderful place for kids to experience a good Christian atmosphere. The kids had a great time sharing memorable moments with their friends. The camp had many activities to offer for the kids. We will be back next year.

What a great experience. At first, I was a little skeptical. I wasn’t sure if my daughter was going to enjoy it. I am glad that I signed her up.
