#GIVINGTUESDAY

Restore the Last Resort

This GivingTuesday, on November 28th, we invite you to link arms with us and help us restore the Last Resort! The Last Resort was built in the late 1940’s and has served a number of purposes over the years, most recently as housing for our Junior Staff during the summer. However, in light of the structure’s poor condition as it has aged, it has not been in use for several years. We are excited to share that as of this fall, renovations are underway! Our goal is to complete this project by Summer 2024 so that our Junior Staff can return to the Last Resort, allowing for the opportunity to have intentional leadership development and community within their own space.

In addition, restoring this housing space will open up doors for us to serve nearly 200 more teenage campers each summer, impacting more lives for generations to come!

The reality is this project will cost around $165,000 in total. Our initial goal for GivingTuesday this year was to raise $25,000 to go towards this project. But we are excited to share that we have a friend of Camp that is matching up to $25,000, bringing our potential impact on GivingTuesday to $50,000This means your gift to Camp Lone Star on GivingTuesday will have double the impact.

We ask that you pray about how the Lord might use you to partner with Camp this GivingTuesday. Your gift will help make a difference for us to enhance our Junior Staff’s experience and serve more teen campers. We give thanks to God for your partnership in the Gospel!

Last Resort Restoration

The Lord has abundantly blessed Camp Lone Star since being established in 1941, and He continues to transform lives through this ministry. A few things have changed over the years: new buildings, new devotion sites, new programs and activities, a new campus in Tomball, and much more. However, even with so many new blessings, there is also a lot of rich history that still remains. Although their purposes have shifted over time, several of Camp’s original structures in La Grange have been in use for close to (or over) a century now: The Nature Center, Trading Post, and Medic Station to name a few.

The Last Resort (pictured) was built in the late 1940’s and was first used as one of the boys’ cabins for summer camp, later becoming housing for summer leadership staff, and used for small retreat groups during the year. Most recently, the Last Resort served as housing for our Junior Staff with boys on one side and girls on the other. However, in the last several years, the Last Resort has not been utilized at all due to the structure’s poor condition as it has aged. The good news is that a recent inspection determined the foundation of the Last Resort is still in sound condition. With this in mind, we have decided to restore this space to once again serve as Junior Staff housing, and thereby carry on this piece of Camp Lone Star’s history.

This GivingTuesday, we invite you to link arms with us and help us raise $165,000 for the Last Resort project. We are aiming to complete the renovations by Summer 2024 so that our Junior Staff can return to the Last Resort, allowing for the opportunity to have intentional leadership development and community within their own space. In addition, restoring this housing space will open up doors for us to serve nearly 200 more teenage campers each summer, impacting more lives for generations to come!

We ask that you pray about how the Lord might use you to partner with Camp this GivingTuesday. Your gift will help make a difference for us to enhance our Junior Staff’s experience and serve more teen campers. We give thanks to God for your partnership in the Gospel!

For the last 80 years, we know that God has chosen Camp Lone Star to play a role in furthering His Kingdom. And we have seen how God is growing Camp Lone Star to spread His Good News to many more generations.

This year we are excited to announce that we have a friend of Camp Lone Star that is matching up to $20,000!

Here at Camp Lone Star, with both our La Grange and Pines Campus, we have the blessing of serving over 10,000 guests through retreats. We know the importance of comfort and relaxation when it comes to getting away and spending time at our campuses. The funds raised from GivingTuesday will be used to replace our commercial laundry equipment and provide new linens for better comfort.

We ask that you pray about how the Lord might use you to partner with Camp this GivingTuesday. Your gift will help make a difference for us to better serve our retreat guests throughout the year.
